A Trip to the Desert

Fueled by binge watching Breaking Bad over the rainy winter, Breanne and I took a trip out to the much dryer Central Washington where we found some tall desert sand dunes overlooking the Columbia River. Photos from the Seattle St. Patrick's Day Parade with the 501st Legion

A rainy Saturday in March did not stop the 501st Legion from taking part in a lively St. Patrick's Day Parade held by the Irish Heritage Club. Bagpipes echoed throughout the streets beginning on James St and heading north to Westlake Center, where the festival continued via a short monorail ride to Seattle Center. The costumed Stormtroopers were asked to escort St. Patrick himself, as well as Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and Galway, Ireland Mayor Noel Larkin to the stage.

This specific garrison, or local unit, is called Garrison Titan and is based in Washington State. Even though most members are apart of the dark side in costume, they are genuinely a great group of people whose love and excitement for one of the greatest movie series is contagious.

I took what will be my first of many trips to Washaway Beach to see what this battle between man and nature looks like.
